Dani & Emily's Colourful Parade Wedding at Maple and Rose in Merrickville

I’m overjoyed to share this one that’s been featured on another big queer wedding blog - Dancing with Her absolutely said it best so I’ll leave the story to them, and just share more of my favourite images.

Enjoy the pretty pictures to go along with their incredible story, I had SO much fun at this one this past September. I shot a mix of 35mm and 120 film on classic professional kodak portra, kodak gold, and some really funky films from Revolog, psych blues, and lomochrome purple.

Maple and Rose in Merrickville, Ontario describes their venue as a luxury, whole-home boutique retreat, designed for groups who want more than just a place to stay—a space to gather, celebrate, and create meaningful moments together. And boy do I get it after spending a day there - it was the perfect gathering spot for this celebration.

I always encourage my couples to find time in the day to breathe alone, Emily and Dani had a few moments upstairs to read love notes and exchange gifts. These private moments before a ceremony between a couple are usually some of my favourite moments, and these details were so lovely.

We led into the cocktail hour of my dreams afterwards…

Followed by a ceremony where not one person, but ALL their people walked them up to the ceremony space - ADORE this.

This energetic and honest ceremony finished off with their secret handshake, sealed with a kiss, leading into a celebratory parade procession from the ceremony site down Mill Street.

We took that energy into a few moments alone to catch stunning portraits as the sun set, then headed back towards Maple and Rose.

Dinner at a long table laden with hand crafted details under string lights was followed by a campfire with smores, and open ice cream bar.
